About Bethany

If you are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by grief, navigating a difficult relationship, or simply struggling to feel like yourself, I want you to know that reaching out is an act of strength. You do not have to face these challenges alone.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience helping adults work through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and relationship difficulties. I completed my doctorate at the University of Tasmania, where my research focused on understanding how the brain processes and regulates emotion. That foundation in neuroscience continues to inform the way I approach therapy today.

My Approach

I believe that effective therapy begins with a genuine connection. My goal in every session is to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and free from judgement, so that we can work together on what matters most to you.

My approach is warm and collaborative, and I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches and tailor each treatment plan to your individual needs. Depending on what we are working on together, this may include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for changing unhelpful thinking patterns, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for processing trauma, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for building psychological flexibility, Schema Therapy for understanding longstanding patterns, or Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) for developing a kinder relationship with yourself. For couples, I use Interpersonal Therapy and structured relationship approaches (e.g., Gottman) to help partners communicate more effectively and rebuild connection.

Beyond the Consulting Room

Alongside my clinical work, I am committed to strengthening the psychology profession in Tasmania. I teach and supervise postgraduate clinical psychology students at the University of Tasmania, and I am a Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor for psychologists working towards clinical endorsement. I have held leadership roles within the Australian Psychological Society, and I have published research papers and presented at national and international conferences.
