Natalie Fitzgerald is an experienced fully registered Clinical Psychologist who works with adults.
She has worked in different clinical settings including a major metropolitan hospital, a residential rehabilitation centre as well as private practice. Natalie is especially passionate about providing psychological services to the local Hobart community.
Her therapy style is characterised by warmth, respect, genuine curiosity, and the occasional bit of humour. She focuses on developing a strong therapeutic alliance based on trust and active listening. She believes that a strong connection is the basis for transformative change in therapy.
Natalie is skilled in treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem, and interpersonal issues. Natalie is also available to conduct screenings and assessments to diagnose attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
She offers evidence-based treatment from several modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Schema therapy. Natalie endeavours to use the most appropriate and effective intervention for each client’s unique needs. Depending on the client’s therapeutic goals, sessions could be focused on processing past events, understanding current triggers, identifying and modifying automatic negative beliefs and behaviours, developing more effective communication skills, living a value-based life and identifying and meeting one’s emotional needs.
Natalie prioritises creating a safe and affirming space for all clients, particularly those who are neurodivergent and those within the LGBTIQ+ community.
